This study is concerned with the staff requirements of The Children's Home of Winnipeg, an institution established in 1884 to care for homeless and destitute children, by a group of women called The Christian Women's Union. During its nearly seventy years of operation as a child-caring institution there have been developments and changes in the function of the agency related more or less closely to developments in the fields of child welfare and child care.
