Abstract
This document is presented as a manuscript-style thesis. Chapter 1 provides general overview of structure and content. Chapter 2 provides a background literature search, including randomized evidence for HPV vaccination which provided the basis for immunization programs worldwide. We discuss the challenges in applying randomized evidence to the real-world setting. Chapter 3 discusses the development and rationale for the current HPV vaccination program in Manitoba, Canada. In chapter 4, we present a systematic review and meta-analysis on the efficacy and safety of a 2-dose versus 3-dose HPV vaccination schedule. In chapter 5, we present a historical matched cohort study to assess the effectiveness of the QHPV program in Manitoba in reducing the incidence of medically-attended anogenital warts. The work in chapters 4 and 5 are presented as they were submitted for consideration for peer-reviewed publication. Chapter 6 provides a summary of key findings, and discussion around policy implications.
