With 1 in 6 people with a disability in Manitoba, providing accessible healthcare for People with Disability (PWD) is an emerging challenge for government. Traditionally, looking through the medical lens has only increased the gap in the healthcare services. The Social Model of disability not only furthers the disability activists’ perspective but also provides a strong foundation on which to build inclusive healthcare policies. This study presents current problems in healthcare delivery from physicians’ perspective while engaging with PWD. This study focuses on the need for change in the current medical mode of education and include more PWD while training and streamlining the resources, along with creating more awareness concerning accessibility in the clinics and physicians’ directive to change the time remuneration method. It then continues to address the types of research studies needed to inform effective policies. The thesis suggests future directions for healthcare innovation.en_US
