Abstract

Social service education for people of native ancestry is a new and unexplored area of inquiry. Very little is known about the educational needs of this group since studies in this area have been either peripheral or non-existent. The purpose of this study is to determine what has taken place with respect to social service education for people of native ancestry in the Prairie Provinces and to make suggestions regarding possible future directions of social service education for people of native ancestry. This study utilized a qualitative methodology and an exploratory research design to catalogue and describe social service projects for people of native ancestry in the Prairie Provinces and to determine what perceptions key people held about their involvement in the projects.
