With the impact of population growth and climate change, how to create a more sustainable and climate-resilient living environment has become a key issue in the field of Landscape Architecture. Mixed-use, higher density, and walkable neighbourhoods that can manage stormwater, enhance ecosystem services, and create recreational values are needed for sustainable development in the City of Winnipeg. In order to achieve this healthier urban environment, the application of green infrastructure at the neighbourhood scale is an effective way to support and improve the relationship between humans and nature. This practicum is an exploration of the definition and typology of neighbourhood-based green infrastructure. Solutions and lessons learned from the study will be applied to the design area for creating a green neighbourhood under the Winnipeg context, and with a focus on stormwater management. The purpose of the practicum is to develop new methods that are guided by the principles of neighbourhood-based green infrastructure to create attractive neighbourhoods that provide both ecological and social benefits.en_US
