dc.description.abstractThis thesis examines the relationship between government-assisted elderly persons' housing allocations and the community characteristics of southern Manitoba towns receiving housing units during the period 1970 to 1986. The quantitative analysis looked at the EPH units allocated to 127 centres during the 16 year period and attempted to draw conclusions about the relationship(s) between the allocation process and the nature of the communities served by various housing programs for the elderly. The analysis found some degree of relationship between EPH delivery and community characteristics such as size, central-place function and location. However, the variables entered into the regression analysis were not specific enough to identify the full nature of the forces with influence such decisions.en_US
