dc.description.abstractA large volume of Ukrainian folklore has been created or transferred to Canada in the last seventy years. There are a few scholars who have been concerned about the value and importance of preserving this oral literature of the people. This study has been undertaken in order to present a typological classification of Ukrainian folklore. This re-grouping will be based upon the contents of each folk- lore item... Chapter II will deal with a chronology of Ukrainian folklore in Canada from 1902-70. The classifications of a Ukrainian folklore bibliography will be discussed. Chapter III will include reasons as to why folklore suddenly took a firm hold in Canada. The first basic classification will be illustrated. Chapter IV will illustrate with examples why certain folklore materials was classified under specific sub-groups. A further attempt will be made to show man's reaction to nature, to other men and to Canadian institutions...en_US
