dc.description.abstract | S. 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the right to life, liberty, and security of the person for "everyone". The word "everyone" has been judicially defined as human beings, who are physically present in Canada, regardless of citizenship status. Neither corporations nor fetuses are included in the term "everyone". This thesis explores why this definition of "everyone" is overly restrictive and proposes a new definition that allows for the possibility of non-human entities being considered "everyone". | en_US |
