This is an ethnographic study of the realities of living with disability in Ibadan, Nigeria. Adopting an exploratory design, the study involved interviewing women with physical disabilities. The participants comprised five women, aged 18 and above. One participant was single and the other four were married. The women were educated and able to express themselves without any assistance. They talked about their experiences as people with disabilities and the challenges they faced. The women had similar experiences that they wished could be turned around for the better and result in opportunities for them. Interviews covered different aspects of life such as: perception of disability, housing, transportation, marriage, public services, government policies and support, employment and education. The women spoke extensively on each subject and expressed their displeasure in areas where they lacked support as disabled women. They believed that there are opportunities for people with disabilities in Nigeria, if only the government was ready to acknowledge and support them as equal citizens.en_US
