| dc.description.abstract | Green supply chains are supply systems where decision-making emphasize the environmental impacts of the operations processes (Lee and Kim, 2011). A supply chain will become greener if it is able to control its impacts on the natural environment and take action to fix them, when needed. The implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, which allow for a more integrated environmental approach, has the potential to enhance supply chains toward greener approaches. However, this path is never easy as ERP implementation is a complex and daunting task. This study aims to fill a literature gap by identifying the ERP environmental functions that drive green supply chain practices and exploring how salient organizational factors impact their implementation. It focuses on the perspectives of individuals implementing and using ERP systems, who were interviewed regarding their experiences with ERP systems within the selected focal companies. This research uses a descriptive and exploratory qualitative research method to explore this important, but yet scarcely explored research topic. This study offers a preliminary theoretical explanation for implementation failures of ERP systems and provides practical insights on how to overcome such failures toward the successful implementation of green supply chain practices. | en_US |
