The development and implementation of long-term, ecologically-relevant water quality objectives for nutrients in Lake Winnipeg and its watershed is critical to the health of the lake. Once complete, these objectives will replace the interim objectives outlined in the Lake Winnipeg Action Plan. On May 31, 2006, the Lake Winnipeg Stewardship Board hosted a workshop of approximately 50 scientists from across Canada and the northern United States to examine this issue, taking an important step toward the development of these objectives.en_US
