This paper presents a critique of current human rights frameworks in addressing structural oppression, particularly as it relates to poverty. Despite the recognition in international and domestic human rights law to the right to life and to an adequate standard of living, poverty remains pervasive and economic disparities both within and between countries continue to grow. The author examines how and why this failure persists and highlights the transformative potential of mutual aid networks in ensuring a more equitable and just society.en_US
