- ItemOpen AccessThe Crustacean Plankton of Lake Winnipeg, June to October, 1969(Central and Arctic Region Department of Fisheries and Oceans Winnipeg, Manitoba, 1992) Salki, A.G.; Patalas, K.The species composition and abundance of the crustacean plankton community found in Lake Winnipeg on six sampling cruises during the period June to October, 1969 are given. Total settled volume of the net plankton collected on these cruises is also reported.
- ItemOpen AccessExperimental cropping of lakes. 3. Phytoplankton and zooplankton(1975) Healey, M.C.; Kling, H.J.Samples of phytoplankton were collected by a van Dorn sampler in 1972 and samples of zooplankton by a Wisconsin style net in 1971 and 1972 from Alexie, Baptiste, Chitty and Drygeese lakes near Yellowknife,Northwest Territories. Seventy-nine major taxa of phytoplankton were identified, Chitty Lake having the most taxa (56) and Alexie Lake the fewest (28). Chrysophyceae dominated the phytoplankton in all four lakes while Cyanophyceae or Cryptophyceae were second in importance. Seasonal changes in numbers and biomass were not consistent among the lakes. Most differences in plankton populations observed among the lakes reflected the fact that they are located on two separate sub drainages of the Yellowknife River system.
- ItemOpen AccessMacrophyte and algal studies of some lakes in the Mackenzie Delta and on the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula, 1985-86(Canada. Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans. Central and Arctic Region, 1991) Ramlal, P.S.; Anema, C.; Cummings, E.; Fee, E.J.; Guildford, S.J.; Hallard, K.; Hecky, R.E.; Hesslein, R.H.; Himmer, S.; Kling, H.; Mathew, D.; Nernberg, D.; Schindler, E.This report is a compilation of data collected regarding distribution, abundance and growth of macrophytes, nutrient status indicators of phytoplankton, epiphyton and epipelon, photosynthesis rates of epiphyton and epipelon, and biomass and cell number estimates of phytoplankton from study lakes in the Mackenzie Delta and the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula during the open water periods of 1985 and 1986.
