    Abstract
This practicum will explore the relationship between water and people through the design of two water gardens along the Red River in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each garden will reinterpret and express a new poetics of Winnipeg water through a phenomenological, relational reading of the Red River. The gardens will be situated between the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the Alexander Docks. Each garden will contextually ground specific phenomena and qualities of water.
