Abstract
The report demonstrates the detailed information on the design of the structural test rig for acoustic panels. The objective of this project is to design a structural test rig for measuring the deflection of various sizes of acoustic panels under certain uniform loads. The test rig designed meets the clients’ needs. It saves Price costs by conducting the test in house rather than sending to a third party. The customer needs and related technical specifications are reviewed. Next, the detailed design is split into subsections which are then explained. The customer needs are then revisited, and the final design is compared to the marginal and ideal target specifications. The uniformly distributed loading for the acoustic panels is achieved using airbags and several pieces of reaction panels. A high accuracy deflection measurement reading is accomplished by an electrical indicator, which is located beneath the acoustic panel. The support structure has a sliding mechanism. It ensures the acoustic panels can slide in and out without any damage. The total cost of the design is $12,087. A computer aided design model of the mechanism will be sent through private communication to the client as part of the final package.
