Abstract
Price Industries (Price) is a worldwide provider of air distribution products and services. The company has a reputation for providing quality products that perform to their rated specifications. This reputation is mainly due to the thorough product testing that occurs at the Winnipeg facility, Price Research Center North (PRCN). The research center features numerous specialised test chambers that can be used to test a variety of products including, but not limited, to diffusers, blower coils, and radiant products. The research center also includes simulation rooms that are used for testing product set ups and demonstrating product performance to customers under a variety of environmental conditions. These rooms can be used to analyze flow patterns through smoke tests and create detailed velocity and temperature plots for any configuration of products. In order to achieve more accurate test results and create more accurate demonstrations, Price Industries would like to simulate the effect of people within the test space. This simulation feature will create a more accurate representation of the internal and external loads that their products will be exposed to. To simulate the effect of people within the test space, Price Industries would like to introduce mannequins into the lab that replicate the breathing output and thermal plume of a human being. The goal of the project with Price Industries is to design a system that can be built into a mannequin that accurately simulates the breathing output and thermal plume of a human being, including the following features: 1. Exhale temperature ? 2. Exhale velocity ? 3. Exhale flow rate ? 4. Exhale carbon dioxide (CO2) content ? 5. Thermal plume ? In addition to accurately simulating the above human qualities, the system should be able to fit within a standard sized, adult male mannequin and maintain a weight less […]
