Since the 1970s, libraries and archives in the English-speaking world have dealt with changes wrought by economic, intellectual, technological, and political forces. These forces in turn have had a significant impact on the role of libraries and archives in canon formation and development. This article will review how literary and critical theory, digital technology, the financial situation of universities, and changes in service philosophy have affected the role played by libraries and archives in constructing literary value.en_US
