Abstract
This practicum focuses on an Interior Design project to address Winnipeg’s housing crisis and provide Affordable Social Housing for Aboriginal communities and immigrants. It defines design goals, highlights the city’s housing circumstances, and identifies major issues in the current affordable housing systems. The project formulates an Affordable Social Housing model and Interior Design solution, drawing on theoretical frameworks and analyzing precedents. A site is selected at 265 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, and design elements are refined for a successful implementation. The final practicum showcases the research process and presents a practical, sustainable, affordable housing project.
