Abstract

The Lake Winnipeg Science Workshop was organized by an ad hoc Steering Committee at the request of the Provincial Minister of Water Stewardship and the Federal Ministers of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and Environment Canada (EC). Members of the Steering Committee, in alphabetical order, were: Vic Cairns (DFO, Burlington), Kevin Cash (EC, Saskatoon), Robert Fudge (DFO, Winnipeg), Keith Kristofferson (DFO, Winnipeg), Joe O’Connor (Water Stewardship, Winnipeg), Peter Thompson (DFO, Sarnia), and Dwight Williamson (Water Stewardship, Winnipeg). The work of the Steering Committee was supported by Burton Ayles (Consultant, Winnipeg) and David Rosenberg (Consultant, Winnipeg) who also chaired and facilitated the workshop. The workshop report was drafted by Burton Ayles and David Rosenberg and was reviewed by the Steering Committee. The recommendations were prepared after the workshop and were based on the workshop results and discussions.1 They were approved by the Steering Committee as the outcomes of the workshop but they do not necessarily reflect the positions of the government departments involved.
