Abstract
The design practicum proposes a restorative justice centre - Aurora Youth Centre to house restorative justice programs for the youth in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The centre is for use by the government of Manitoba and Canadian volunteer organization to dispense restorative justice. To create interiors imbued with trust and hope, I studied nature’s restorative qualities, and juxtaposed current criminal justice and restorative justice responses. I have also applied theoretical exploration to the new facility through its programming. Through the rehabilitative and supportive design solutions, I hope to draw a version of a Sanctuary where all the participants of restorative justice, including the youth offenders, victims, and members of the society, may share a meaningful experience of reconciliation.
