Abstract
Divided in two parts, this thesis includes a theoretical essay followed by a creative work. We begin with a brief overview of the state of First Nations literature, specifically fiction, written in French or English in Canada, and how this literary production and its critical reception have evolved over the years. We then focus our attention on three specific themes: post-colonialism, decolonization and resilience, with a specific interest in how First Nations and Franco-Manitoban Métis relate to these concepts by either adopting them, rejecting them or creating new ones.
