Abstract
The prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is rising globally, particularly among the
elderly population. In the elderly, distinguishing unsuccessful and successful aging has
become relevant for determining outcomes in CKD patients. Frailty has been identified as a
concept for identifying unsuccessful aging and has been demonstrated to be associated with
CKD and poor outcomes. such as death or starting dialysis. However. longitudinal studies of
patients with advanced CKD not yet on dialysis are Jacking. The CanFIT Study aims to study
the natural history of CKD and frailty in this population and will identify important associations between frailty, treatment choices and patient centered outcomes.
