Observable via the subversion of the norms of the French language by Francophone African Writers, this linguistic turn is the focal point of our research in in selected West-African novels. We first examine the strategies of indigenization of French language by three West-African writers (Jean-Marie Adiaffi, Amadou Hampâté Bâ and Ahmadou Kourouma), their motivations and the challenges this practice poses to translation. The second part of the research, through the lenses of postcolonial translation theories and a descriptive approach, argues the difficult task of the translator of hybrid Francophone African texts by examining strategies used by translators before proposing solutions to help improve the translation of such texts. Keywords: Subsaharan, Francophone, African, Literature, linguistic turn, criticism, subversion, norm, West-African novel, strategy, translation, postcolonial, theory, translator, hybrid.
