Audio Script
This audio recording is intended to give you a tour of BorealBuzz Part 2. It is meant for participants who have limited experience using the Internet. Let’s begin.
You are now located on the website overview page. Please read this section to understand the purpose of this website and for a listing of it’s contents.
Now let’s tour the rest of the Boreal Buzz website. Look to the top of this page and see a horizontal bar with headings like Overview, Meeting Prep, Resources, and so on. We will be using these headings to navigate through this website. They will stay the same regardless of which webpage we are looking at.
Now move your cursor, which is usually a white arrow, directly over top of the Meeting Prep heading. When the arrow looks like a hand, a drop down menu of two tour topics and a survey will appear. You can access the tours by clicking on one of these headings. Go ahead and click one the Road Access tour page.
Once you have had a brief look at the Road Access page, shift your attention back to the headings along the horizontal line at the top of the page. Now move the white arrow over the heading, Resources. A drop down menu will appear with a list of subjects, including photogallery, maps, and several other topics of interest.
Now click once on the photo gallery heading. You are taken to a page with images. Here is a hint about using this page. If you click twice on a smaller photograph, a larger version of the photo will appear. You will best be able to see this photo if you have high speed internet or are using a CD Rom.
Once again look to the top horizontal bar, and place the white arrow over the Contact heading and click once. Here you will see two sections. The top section is how you can contact Carissa, the researcher and author of this website, either by phone or email. The second section is a message board. A message board is a place where you can post messages for others to see, and people can respond to your message as well. This function is only operational if you have an internet connection.
Here is a brief guide to using the message board. To enter a username, move your cursor into box beside the word Username and enter any name you wish. You are then asked to enter an email address, this is totally optional. Press the login button. Once you have logged in, you will a list of topics on the left hand side. Click on the topic you would like to read. You can also post a new topic by selecting the phrase “Post a new topic” by clicking on it twice. You will need to enter a topic and a message. To do this, place your cursor in the empty white boxes and click once to start writing. When you are finished typing your message, click on the Submit box once. You will be taken back to the Contact page.
Now let’s move to the last stop on our tour, the help section. Move the arrow to the top of the page and click once on the help heading. A new page will open containing help information. If you need help with something that is not on this page, please let Carissa know and she will post that information to help others using this website.
This concludes the navigational tour of this website. To go back to where we started, click on the website overview link on the top of this page. Also, once you have finished looking at this website, please complete the survey located in the Meeting Prep drop down menu, as it is very important for this research. Thanks and have a great day.
