to local communities.

Definitions:
Land
Entitlement Areas: Areas
that Canada owes to specific First Nations based on the term of
original treaties. Currently, about 50% of Manitoba’s 61
First Nations have outstanding Treaty Land Entitlement Areas

Background:
The following table
gives examples of cultural and heritage sites located in FML01.

| Treaty Areas |
Treaty 3 and 5 are the traditional areas of the Anishinabe
Ojibwe. Two proposed land entitlement areas are in the Lac du
Bonnet area, and have been removed from planning.

Heritage Sites |
Known archeological sites, ceremonial sites, pictographs,
cabins and trails are recorded in a Tembec database and used
for planning.

Traplines |
Tembec continuously updates an inventory of 56 traplines.
|
Rivers |
Rivers such as the Winnipeg River, which was used during the
fur trade, are of national significance.
