How to use this Compact Disc (CD)

1. Start the Tour: Move your cursor over the picture on the right and click "Enter" to start the tour. This website and CD has been designed for the Tembec Sustainable Forest Management Advisory Committee located in Pine Falls, Manitoba, Canada.

2. Once you have entered, you will be taken to an introduction page. It is recommended that you read the links provided throughout the text to aquaint yourself with the tour before starting.

3. The tour will take you to 5 'stops'. For each topic, you will find a slide show, maps and background information with additional links if you wish to learn more. Each topic area can also be accessed from the Site Map link at the top of each page.

4. All maps can be selected from the "Maps" Link at the top of the page. Here are descriptions of the options.

View All Maps (Zoom):

    1. This will take you to the Zoom page where you can zoom in on the maps to get a closer view.
    2. To find an map in Zoom, go to the left side of the page, under "Go To Page" and click on the downward arrow. You will see a list of all the maps available. Drag your cursor down to the map you would like to see and click on it. The map should appear on the right hand side of the screen.
    3. To zoom in, click on the "+" located at the left side of the screen. The image may become blurry, this is because the resolution of the map is being reduced.
    4. To leave the Zoom page, click the "Back" button at the top of your screen. You will need to click back through all the maps you have viewed to arrive at the HomePage.

View All Maps (PDF):

    1. This will take you to a list of maps in PDF format. Maps in PDF have more detail, however they also take much longer to download.
    2. To view PDF maps, you will need to have Adobe PDF installed on your computer. You can do this for free on the Internet at (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html). Alternatively, you can call Adobe at 1-800-833-6687 and ask that the program be mailed to you.
    3. Exit PDF maps by selecting the "Back" button at the top of your screen.

View All Maps (No Zoom):

  1. This will take you to a page where you can see all the maps available. These maps are faster to download, and have the same quality as if you were downloading them from each topic page. The purpose of this page is so you can see all the maps at once.
  2. Move your cursor over the maps you would like to see.
  3. Select the "Back" link near the top of the page to return to the page you were looking at.

Specific:

  1. When you move your cursor over "Specific" you will see a list of all the maps available to you. These maps are also the same quality as the maps you would see on each individual page.
  2. Drag your cursor down to the map you would like to see and click.

5. All links listed throughout the tour are also found in the Links page , which you can select from the top of the page when in a tour. On the CD Rom version, links go the the opening page of the website only.

6. A survey is located at the end of the tour, and is part of Carissa's research project . For the CD, use the paper survey that was sent to you instead. Also remember to sign the consent form.
