Established in 1995, the Sustainable Forest Management Network (SFM Network; SFMN) is an incorporated, non-profit Canadian research Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE).

We support interdisciplinary, university-based research conducted by teams that include
pre-eminent Canadian researchers;
university students and other Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP);
our government, industry, Aboriginal, and non-governmental organization (NGO) partners; and
other agencies in Canada, and abroad.

JIM FYLES (MCGILL UNIVERSITY) APPOINTED PROGRAM LEADER (SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR)

Vic Adamowicz stepped down as the SFM Network Program Leader on 31 March 2004. We thank him for all his hard work on behalf of the Network, during the 5 years he served as Program Leader.

Our new Program Leader (Scientific Director) is Jim Fyles. Jim is a Professor in the McGill University Department of Natural Resource Sciences in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec, and holds the George and Frances Tomlinson Chair in Forest Ecology. He's also the Principal Investigator (PI) for the SFM Network-funded project fylesjnutr7. We look forward to working with him!

Terry Veeman will be the Interim Program Leader (Scientific Director) during the transition period. Terry was also the Interim Program Leader in 2001/2002, when Vic went on sabbatical.
