Abstract
The Modern Factory System, as introduced into England in the first quarter of the eighteenth century and developed during the period known as the "Industrial Revolution", brought in its train not only Industrial Progress and Prosperity from a national point of view, a largely increased national dividend and a commercial development unequaled in any period of the world's history, but grave industrial problems involving the very existence of the English worker, the back bone of English industry.
