Abstract
This Practicum Report aims to examine the establishment of an interdepartmental/governmental Working Committee, by Veterans Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence to address the needs of Canadian Forces members and their families during transition from the military to civilian life. Part I of the report begins with a brief overview of the practicum, the duties undertaken by the student in the practicum setting, and the learning objectives that were met through the experience. The literature review (Part II) highlights several important areas of consideration in the analysis of this practicum. Part III of the report provides the rationale and purpose of the Working Committee's existence, as well as the analysis of the practicum using the key concepts of horizontal management and citizen-centred service delivery identified in the literature review, with Part IV providing the student's recommendations for the future. Part V describes the student's reflections of the experience and highlights some of the relevant knowledge that was acquired. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
